While I was working in the middle east a few years ago, I stopped for a short visit in Doha, Qatar. It was a great place to experience some Arabic culture.
1-2: The Museum of Islamic Art was designed by the renowned architect I.M. Pei. It’s an intriguing building both inside and out.
3: You can learn about the Islamic faith and history at the Islamic Cultural Center with its huge minaret.
4: Modern skyscrapers in the business district.
5. Some inspiration messages and great views along the seaside promenade called The Corniche.
6: A traditional dhow boat.
7: Al Bidda Park at dusk with the modern city in the background.
8: Recently much of Al Bidda was shut down to make way for development. I believe these water features are long gone. You can’t stop progress!
9-10: Souq Waqif is a great place to have a meal, buy some antiques, or smoke some sheesha.
